Here’s what our Manchester United fan-writer Dale O’Donnell had to say in response to questions from our Ipswich Town contributor Steve Mellen.
What are the expectations this season now that Ruben Amorim is in office?
Amorim will be tasked with delivering on multiple fronts, but United fans are desperate for an attractive style of play that showcases a sense of identity.
We didn’t know which United would show up from week to week under Erik ten Hag, and he lost his job for not winning enough football matches.
What was the biggest problem for you under Ten Hag?
The biggest problem in my eyes was how Ten Hag came from a successful Ajax team that played excellent football, and when he couldn’t implement that system at United, he tried to make us a transition team heavily dependent on the counter-attack.
The Dutchman may be a shrewd tactician, but he has regularly seen his midfield overwhelmed.
With Oasis reformed, would you like to relive the early 90s, with Fergie at the helm and United producing great teams from their own youth system?
No, because I like to remember that time.
Class of 92 is not something that any other English club has been able to replicate and can only be compared to the Busby Babes of the 1950s and 1960s. Our academy consistently produces the best young players in the country, as evidenced by Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
As for Oasis, I hope their reformation means Manchester City becomes trash again.
